National
Media Training - Thursday, January 17, 2008
On Thursday, January 17th, 2008, in house
parties all over the country, activists gathered
to learn how to successfully earn media coverage,
draw reporters to events, and connect to other activists
in their communities and across the country.
If you participated in our training, share your photos
with us and other house parties from around the country!

trainings that took place in your community and around
the country.

Through an innovative combination of a video training,
live conference call with a national expert, and small
group practice, the National Media Training provided
participants with the tools for implementing successful
earned media events.
About the Media Training
The National Media Training took place in house parties
hosted by individuals like you across the country.
The two-hour house party included a training video,
live webcast, and practice skills session.
The training was designed to help progressives gain
the skills to shape media coverage of important issues
in their communities, including:
- Working with a national organization to reinforce
a larger message
- Successfully planning and implementing an event
- Targeting and attracting local media coverage
- Following up and expanding coverage
- Tips for developing long-term relationships with
reporters
Each house party was designed for 10 to 25 people
and the CPL Action Network provided hosts and participants
all materials they needed to take part in the training.
Get Involved
This is a great opportunity for progressives across
the country to learn how we can work together to take
back the media.
