Hosting a Media Training House Party
We'll make it as easy as possible for you to host
a media training house party, but there are some things
you'll need to have and do in order to make your training
successful.
What you need to be a host
- A comfortable space that can fit between 5 and
15 people
- A working television with a DVD player (note:
you can also download and play a digital version
of the training video, but we recommend watching
the DVD if possible)
- A computer with a reliable internet connection,
external speakers, and monitor or a speaker phone
to connect to the expert interview through a conference
cal or webcast.
- Access to a printer and/or copier in order to
distribute the guest materials for the training
(4-5 pages per person)
What you will do as host
This training has three different sections and involves
a very tight schedule. As a host, it will be your
responsibility to ensure that your event follows the
schedule.
By signing up to be a host, you are agreeing to have
members of your community come to your house for this
training. We will limit the number of people who can
come in accordance with the maximum attendance you
indicate. The reservation system works on a first
come, first serve basis. You will get an email notification
every time someone signs up for your event that will
include their name, address, and contact information.
You are welcome to contact them prior to the training.
During the course of the training, your responsibility
will be to:
- Have your guests fill out an attendance sheet
and submit it online
- Print the guest packets for your attendees
- Play the DVD video (or online version)
- Set up the conference call or webcast
- Help facilitate the interactive practice of the
evening
- Fill out a post-training evaluation
- Help ensure that your participants get the
most out of the experience
You are welcome to invite as many of your own friends,
family, co-workers, and acquaintances as you like;
however, they need to register through the website.
Supporting you as a host
We will host a conference call training for hosts
to walk through the details of the evening and answer
questions. Additionally,
we have provided all the information you need on our
website including a detailed guide to being a host,
frequently asked questions for hosts, and an in-depth
explanation of each portion of the evening. If you
can’t find the answer, email info@cplaction.org.
If you can provide everything listed above, you can
sign up to host a network training in the future!
